Shehab Abid

MBBS, MSc

Research Trainee Fellow

Shehab joined the Clinical Trial Service Unit and Epidemiological Studies Unit (CTSU) as an NDPH Research Trainee Fellow in 2023.

Shehab’s ongoing research is focused on examining the impact of adiposity on cardio-metabolic diseases in diverse ethnic populations using the Malaysian Cohort study, which is a blood-based prospective study of 110,000 participants representing diverse ethnic groups in Southeast Asia. His current fellowship project is supervised by Professor Sarah Lewington and Dr Jennifer Carter.

Prior to joining CTSU, Shehab completed his medical degree from Dhaka Medical College, Bangladesh and a MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology from the University of Oxford in 2022. For his MSc dissertation, he used data from the UK Biobank (UKB) to investigate the association of multimorbidity and disease clusters with neuroimaging markers of brain health.

Shehab previously worked in several epidemiological studies including 75,000 participants BELIEVE prospective study, and nationally representative surveys on non-communicable diseases in Bangladesh.
