We offer a range of opportunities to support new and early career researchers.

Research Placements

During my stay in Oxford, I undoubtedly acquired a wide range of academic and personal knowledge. Thanks to the support of the team, who always showed a positive attitude, I was able to successfully conclude my research stay.

I reinforced my previous knowledge and learned new analyses in advanced methods of genetic epidemiology, such as genetic association testing, polygenicity assessment, conditional analysis, fine mapping and collider bias.

I had the opportunity to collaborate with other researchers and fellow students, contributing new ideas during group discussions.

Participating in the working group discussions allowed me to gain a broader view of the scope and implications of scientific research in genetic epidemiology. This enriching exchange contributed significantly to my academic and professional training.

MCPS research placements are intended to help develop the skills and experience to complete a discrete piece of research using MCPS data. Applicants are likely to be graduate students currently studying epidemiology, statistics or aligned subjects, or final year medical students.

Each placement will be in Oxford within the MCPS research programme with direct supervision from an MCPS researcher. The length of placement will depend on the scope of the project and available funding but will not exceed six months.

MCPS offers limited financial support to applicants who ordinarily reside in Mexico and intend to return to Mexico after completion. Candidates are expected to actively seek funding beyond MCPS but secured funding is not a prerequisite for registering your interest.

Please get in touch to find out more about our research placements.
