Pek Kei (Becky) Im
Early Career Research Fellow
Becky is an Early Career Research Fellow at the Clinical Trial Service Unit and Epidemiological Studies Unit (CTSU). Her research focuses on investigating the health impacts of alcohol intake and on assessing the causal role and mechanisms of alcohol intake in the aetiology of major chronic diseases in the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) study.
Becky joined the CTSU in October 2016 to study for a DPhil in Population Health. Her DPhil research looked at the changing patterns of alcohol consumption in China over time and their relation to wellbeing and major chronic diseases (particularly cancer and liver disease). She holds a BSc (Hons) Human Sciences from University College London and an MPhil in Public Health from University of Cambridge. Prior to her DPhil, Becky worked as a research assistant in Information and Communications Technologies for Development at United Nations University in Macau.
