Fang Chen joined the Clinical Trial Service Unit & Epidemiological Studies Unit (CTSUin 2006 to further develop her interest in clinical research with randomised clinical trials. She has been working on large randomised clinical trials including ORION-4, REVEAL, THRIVE, and ASCEND studies run by CTSU.

Fang has special interests in clinical trial methodology, quality of trial conduct, and outcome event adjudication. She has also acquired considerable experience in safety monitoring in drug trials and provides clinical support to research staff in local sites and regional centres in the international multi-centre trials.

Fang Chen qualified in medicine in West China University of Medical Sciences in 1986, trained in general medicine and cardiology, and practised as an associated consultant cardiologist in China, before she came to UK in 2002, and had further clinical training in interventional cardiology in London, supported by Schevening/RCP Scholarship. She also obtained a PhD degree in cardiology in Peking Medical University in 1994.
