Sam Morris
BSc, PhD
Genetic Epidemiologist
Sam works as a genetic epidemiologist in the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) genomics team at Oxford Population Health since January 2022.
He is currently working on identifying pathogenic disease-causing variants which may be common in East Asian individuals.
Sam is also interested in applying population genetic methods to the large CKB dataset in order to learn more about the population structure and demographic history of China and how it may relate to present-day disease burden.
Before joining the department, Sam completed his PhD in ancient DNA and statistical genetics at UCL Genetics Institute and a BSc in Biology at the University of Sheffield. He has also worked on the genetics of wild insect populations.
In his spare time, Sam enjoys amateur astronomy and riding his bike.
