Killian Donovan
BA BMBCh MRCP PGDip
DPhil Student and Clinical Research Fellow
Killian began his DPhil in October 2023 and is studying the genetic determinants of chronic kidney disease progression using data from large clinical trials, in a project funded by Kidney Research UK. He aims to identify genetic variants associated with faster chronic kidney disease progression and validate these findings in diverse ancestry groups. This may lead to a better understanding of the biology of chronic kidney disease, which may lead to better treatments for patients.
Killian obtained his BA from Cambridge University and then completed his medical degree at Oxford University and has lived and worked in the Oxford area since graduating. Together with clinical work, he has conducted clinical and epidemiological research in critical care and nephrology, funded by an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship (2018-2021). Immediately prior to starting the DPhil, he was working as a registrar in nephrology and intensive care medicine.
