The ATTILA (Assistive Technology and Telecare to maintain Independent Living At home for people with dementia) is an open-treatment randomised trial that aims to compare outcomes among people with dementia who receive ATT and those who received equivalent community services without ATT. The working hypothesis of the trial is that fewer people in the ATT group will enter institutional care over the four-year period for which the study is funded. ATTILA also aims to assess which forms of ATT are more effective and which types of patient benefit most.

The trial will include community-resident people living with dementia who are eligible to receive a package of social care.  ATTILA is funded by the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) programme and aims to recruit 500 patients, half allocated ATT and half standard care.
