Biography: Dr Jane Armitage

Senior Research Fellow and Honorary Consultant in Public Health Medicine at the University of Oxford. Dr Armitage joined the CTSU in 1990 from a background in clinical medicine, with experience in respiratory medicine, geriatrics and diabetes. She has been clinical co-ordinator of HPS since the beginning. Her main research interests are in cholesterol-lowering and cardiovascular epidemiology. She is also co-ordinating the CTSU's large SEARCH trial, which is assessing whether bigger reductions in cholesterol are worthwhile and reduce risk of heart disease further.
