Other large prospective studies in developing populations
CTSU has also helped establish large-scale prospective studies in a number of different settings to monitor the effects of smoking and alcohol on mortality in middle and old age, and to provide uniquely reliable evidence on the relevance of obesity and of hypertension in different populations. These include: Russia (4 regions: 100,000 adults being interviewed); Egypt (150-200,000); Trivandrum, South India (200,000); Bombay, West India (200,000); and Cuba (200,000).
